Description: The assignment was to read the Technology Standards for Teachers as well as the introduction and chapter 1 from “Technology Facilitation and Leadership Standards” and reflect on how our knowledge of the standards has changed and how the standards impact the classroom and personal use.
Impact: To be honest, before I met with instructors for this class in October or November I did not realize that there were technology standards for teachers. In the Ohio Department of Education math standards, there are strands that have the students discovering standards by way of technology. I always thought of myself as a tech savvy person but after reading over the standards for teachers and the scenarios that went with each standard, I realize there is a great deal of technological integration that I can do with my students.
Intent: I use technology on a daily basis. However, I now know that I can integrate it on a more in depth and engaging manner with my students to enhance the learning process. One other teacher and I are the unofficial technology facilitators in our building. Many teachers consult me on Smart Board as well TI Navigator issues. Normally, I can find the answers for them. If not, I know the other teacher will be able to help. After reading the standards and learning what a true facilitator can do to aid the incorporation of technology, it is my goal to aid my fellow staff in anyway possible.
